Day 4 Profile

Nasser Al-Attiyah has withdrawn from the rally as a result of his crash yesterday.  That has opened the field up somewhat as Al-Attiyah is always a threat to win any stage.  Many of the top teams had problems today.  Loeb had engine problems and was stopped for about 30 minutes.  Peterhansel got so lost that they stopped for about 20 minutes and had to get the maps out!  But worst of all, Carlos Sainz rolled his car and is probably out of the rally.

The result of all of this misfortune is that Cyril Depres won his first Dakar stage in a car.  He has won numerous stages on a motorcycle, but this was his first in a car in only his third Dakar in the Car Class.  Very impressive!

The results of the Day 4 Car Class competition are shown below.
