Now that the Gran Prix season is over there is a new reason to get up early Saturday morning other than to watch Formula 1 Qualifying.  The 2015 Great Race on Route 66 TV show will air this Saturday, December 10, at 6 a.m. Eastern time on the Velocity television network.

In 2015 the Great Race race from event Kirkwood, Missouri to Santa Monica, California. This one-hour special show will follow the race that year which generally followed the historic Route 66 and had $150,000 in prizes for the competitors.

You can find out more about the 2015 Great Race TV show, such as how to find it in your area, by going to www.velocity.com

In early 2017, the 2016 Great Race is scheduled to also be presented on the Velocity television network. The 2016 event started in San Rafael, California and ended in Moline, Illinois.  When I learn of the date of that show I will post it here.

In 2017, I will be competing in the Great Race for the first time as the navigator for Harald von Langsdorff.  The 2017 Great Race route will start in Jacksonville, Florida and end in Traverse City, Michigan.

In 2017 we will be competing in Harald’s 1972 Mercedes-Benz 350SLC.  This is the newest car model year that can enter the Great Race based on current rules.  As the Mercedes-Benz is such a new car, we will not get any error reduction factor in the scoring, therefore we will be under great pressure to do well on the road, as we will get no help from the scoring system.  However, Harald and I look forward to the challenge and have put a lot of thought into what is needed to do well.
