2017 Mille Miglia Route Announced

This week the organizers of the Mille Miglia have announced the route of the 2017 Mille Miglia rally.  This has been identified as the “most beautiful race in the world”.  And It is hard to argue against that description.

As has become the recent norm, the 2017 Mille Miglia will take place over four days, this year from May 18 through May 21, 2017.  The route map and overall schedule of the 2017 Mille Miglia are shown below.

The 2017 Mille Miglia is now open for entries.  There are always more applications than the 450 available spaces in the Mille Miglia, so I suggest that prospective applicants make the strongest case possible for the selection of their vehicle.

For a list of the acceptable cars and their assigned coefficients click on the following file.  Remember that for scoring, a higher coefficient is better.

It would be helpful if you listed the towns along the route. You have the dots but no names of the towns. I need to know if it still goes through Pienza, on a secondary road off of the SS#2.

    • Hi Bruce,
Just so you are clear, I only have the same red line map that the organizers publish on the Mille Miglia website that you are looking at. I have used that map to TRY to plot the route on a couple of Michelin maps that I have of this area. If I was to list all of the towns that I think the Mille Miglia will go through it would be a long list indeed.
In the case of the Pienza area, I used Michelin Map 563 “Italy Central” to draw my interpretation of the 2017 route. As a result of that I don’t think that the Mille Miglia route will go through Pienza in 2017. I believe that the Mille Miglia cars will pass west of Pienza via S. Quirico d’Orcia. The road through Pienza certainly looks like a great rally road though.

Hi Steve, We leave for the Brescia on Friday the 12th fro a drive down. If you could recommend a perfect itinerary for the sealing day and the race start day. Could you please advise me. Particularly where to go to watch the start (I presume the start point) and where to watch some of the later starters from. People say a restaurant on the route??? But where would you choose? Would love to know. Regards, Steve Ellis

    • Hi Steve,
I am currently in Germany competing in a car rally and I don’t have access to my Mille Miglia info. I will be returning on May 8 and I will get back to you on May 9. The good news is that with all of those Mille Miglia cars in Brescia at that time there will be no bad days in Brescia.

    • Hi Steve
I have sent you a private email message with a copy of the 2017 Mille Miglia program and a map of downtown Brescia.

Several years ago we watched the Miglia from the intersection of SP 18 and the SP Orcia – Socella road. This is from the SS 2 up to Pienza. Will it take the same route this year?

    • Hi Bruce,
At this time due to traveling, I don’t have access to my 2017 Mille Miglia info, so
I am not able to answer your question until early next week.

    • Hi Bruce,
I don’t think that the route this year will go through Pienza this year. It will be close to there however, as I believe that it will go through S. Quirico d’Orcia.
