I just received a new book about the 1968 London to Sydney Marathon rally. This book, written by Robert Connor, was published in 2016 and appears to be well researched. It is filled with stories recounted by participants in this famous rally.
The book has lots of pictures from the rally including a couple pictures of the 1968 Rambler America entry of Sid Dickson. One of those pictures is shown below.
Sid Dickson In This Rambler American Was The Sole USA Entry
This Rambler American was already a special car before the 1968 London To Sydney Marathon. This Rambler American was one of the three American Motors team cars that won the Team Prize in the 1968 Shell 4000 rally. Sid Dickson of Maryland bought the car after the finish of the Shell 4000 for use in this rally. One hundred cars started the 1968 London To Sydney Marathon rally and in the final standings, Sid Dickson and his Rambler American were ranked as finishing 46th Overall.
I look forward to reading this book. If you have a comment or question about this book or the 1968 London To Sydney Marathon rally, then leave a comment below or send me a private email at: shanna12 at comcast dot net
