Paris Vienna Rally To Get Underway

In the upcoming days, the Paris-Vienna Rally will be getting underway.  The rally, hosted by the Rally Round folks begins on June 13 and ends 5 days later in Vienna.  This rally should be a good run through some very scenic countryside.

The route of the Paris-Vienna Rally is shown on an old-tyme map base below.   As can be seen from the route, it looks like the Rally Round folks have picked a route that is scenic, interesting, and well within the capability of the older cars that make up a significant portion of the entries into the rally.

The rally has been very well subscribed and has attracted a wide variety of cars.  Most of the entrants are from Europe with a few entries from as far away as Australia and Hong Kong.  There are even a couple of entries from the United States.  I have included a complete entry list for the rally.

A friend of mine, Michael Eatough, has entered his Mercedes-Benz 230S into the Paris-Vienna Rally.  Peter Godwin, a long time friend and associate of Michael’s will be Michael’s navigator.  Michael’s car is shown below.

Michael has stepped up the performance of his Mercedes-Benz by installing a 2,800cc 6-cylinder engine.  The additional power of the larger engine will be helpful on the steeper road portions of the Paris-Vienna Rally.
