Canada Elects A Car Guy As Prime Minister

Recently Canada had federal elections and Justin Trudeau was elected as Prime Minister.  One of Justin Trudeau’s prized possessions is a 1957 Mercedes-Benz 300SL that was initially owned by his famous Dad, Pierre Elliot Trudeau, who was the Canadian Prime Minister in the late 1960s and early 1970s.

Justin Trudeau was fortunate to inherit his Dad’s Mercedes-Benz and he is definitely a proud owner of this car.  Now that he has been elected as Prime Minister the Canadians are lucky to have leader who is a car guy with a great classic car.

Perhaps you’ve been away too long Steve. Pierre and Margaret Trudeau actually had three sons. Michel, the youngest, died in an avalanche in British Columbia in 1998. He was 23. Justin says his father never recovered from the loss.

    • Hi Merrill,
I guess that I have been away from Canada too long. That is very sad about Michel. I can easily imagine that it would have had a big impact on his Dad. Thanks for updating my knowledge of the Trudeau family.

Sorry but owning a nice car doesn’t make one a car guy! I just wish JT maintains Canada the way he maintains the 57 merc. A real car guy know all aspects of the mechanics of his or her car, I would be impressed if Justin knows what a ring gear is or what a tie rod is!
