The path forward for the Endurance Rally Association is becoming clear following the unfortunate and untimely death of the founder and leader, Philip Young. Philip Young’s life-partner, Jane Young, will become the company director and lead this major rally company forward. In another key management move, Endurance Rally Association Vice President Fred Gallagher will take on a more active hands-on role in continuing the success of the events. Fred is immensely qualified to take on this more expansive role working with the ERA staff. Fred has an impressive career as a rally co-driver/navigator at all levels and is the Clerk of the Course for the Rally of Great Britain on the World Rally Championship series.
Those of us in the northeast USA may remember Fred Gallagher as the co-driver for John Buffum when he won the 1984 Cyprus Rally in an Audi when John was competing in some European Championship rallies. The picture below shows Fred Gallagher and John Buffum at the awards ceremony at the 1984 Cyprus Rally. Fred is the guy holding the trophy with the naked woman on it.

So while the ERA is moving on to a new chapter after the passing of Philip Young, it appears that the overall plot of their book will remain the same. At this time, the ERA is hosting the Flying Scotsman rally which appears to be shaping up to be a complete success.
The Endurance Rally Association’s Flying Scotsman Rally Will Be Underway Shortly
