Stage 3 of the 2015 Dakar Rally is in the books.  The Car Class had 284 kilometers of competitive distance today, while the Bike Class’s competitive distance was 220 kilometers.  Below is a plan of the route of Stage 3.  The timed stage is shown in red.

In the Car Class there were no major surprises, but Orlando Terranova in his Mini had a good day recovering from a rough stage yesterday to win Stage 3.  I am becoming more and more impressed by DeVilliers in the Toyota.  I have always been impressed by his ability to be competitive and stay out of trouble but so far this year he seems to be a little quicker.  I seem to recall reading somewhere that the Toyota engine had a little more horsepower this year, so maybe that’s all DeVilliers needed.
