This past week I acquired a great book on the history of the Monte Carlo Rally. The book, written in 2007 by Graham Robson, is titled “Monte Carlo Rally, The Golden Age” which is a chronological history of the Monte Carlo Rally from 1911 to 1980.
Each year of the Monte Carlo rally is covered in a three to five page summary report which is illustrated with quite a few photographs. Each report lists the top ten finishers, plus other award winners, and all of the rally’s starting cities for that year. In quite a few years, Robson includes a map of the common route of the rally that was used after the cars all arrived at Monte Carlo from their various starting cities. This book will be great reference for the history of the famous Monte Carlo Rally.
In a related matter, the July 2014 issue of Hemming’s “Sports & Exotic Car” has a great article about an American team who competed in this past year’s 17th Rallye Monte Carlo Historique in a 1961 Alfa Romeo Giulietta.
