I have a fascination with the great long distance endurance car rallies. I’d like to take part in one of these rallies some day. In keeping with this interest, I have added another book to my library about this topic. “A Lap Of The Globe” written by Kevin Clemens is story about the “Round The World in 80 Days Motor Challenge” that was held from May to July in 2000 by the Classic Rally Association.
Kevin Clemens’ Book on the 2000 Around The World In 80 Days Motor Challenge
The story follows Clemens as he and navigator, Mark Rinkel, compete in this very challenging endurance rally in a 1959 Mercedes-Benz 220S sedan. The rally began and ended in London, England with many miles of adventure between leaving and returning to London.
Beside the story of this rally, one of the other things that personally interests me is that the North American portion of this rally was put together by John Bellefleur and Ross Wood, two very well-known and respected rally people. In fact, a couple of years ago John Bellefleur shared with me a great deal of background information on this event.
For these reasons, I look forward to reading this book.
