Beginning on Friday, this weekend marks the opening of the 2012 Rally America season with the 46th running of the Sno*Drift Rally. Typically, Sno*Drift which is based in Atlanta, Michigan is a snowy stage rally, but with the warmer snow-free weather so far this winter, some of the roads might be rather bare. However, it is also possible that 12-inches of snow could fall in a matter of 3 – 4 hours in that part of Michigan. As a result, I think that the competitors should bring tires suitable for every kind of road surface at the 2012 Sno*Drift Rally.
There is a good field entered in this rally with approximately 67 entries. The Subaru Rally Team USA will be early favorites led by David Higgins. Of course, Antoine L’Estage will certainly challenge for the lead in his Mitsubishi. Others to watch are Trevor Hanson and “Crazy Leo”.
As Sno*Drift is the first Rally America event of the year and with the potential for significant weather changes during the rally, the 2012 Sno*Drift Rally should be very interesting.
