2012 Dakar Rally TV Schedule

I am not sure why Versus TV/NBC have made this so difficult, but the TV schedule for the 2012 Dakar Rally is becoming clearer.  This is a great motorsports event, but it gets little (i.e. no) promotion from Versus TV/NBC.  I hope that the viewership is large, despite this lack of promotion.  In addition, I have been trying to find out for weeks if it will be on TV at all, but the 2012 Dakar Rally television schedule seems to have been a secret.

However, the schedule is mostly now known, at least for me in the northeast USA with a Comcast cable provider.  The Dakar will be shown on Versus TV which is now becoming the NBC Sports Network.  The first show (all times Eastern Standard Time) will be on Monday January 2 at 1:30-2:00am.  I know, it’s almost the middle of the night!  And obviously with a half-hour length, it will be a summary show as has been the Versus TV practice in the past.  The next show will be on Tuesday January 3 again at 1:30-2:00AM, but also on Tuesday there will be a show at 4:00-4:30pm, much better timing.  On Wednesday the 1:30-2:00am show will continue, but on Wednesday afternoon, there will be two shows – one at 5:00-5:30pm followed by a second show at 5:30-6:00pm.

From this partial schedule it looks like the 2012 Dakar Rally TV schedule will be a moving target, but at least there will be daily TV coverage.  The best idea is to carefully watch your local listings to find out when the shows will actually be on the television.
