This week a letter from Elaine Dobbin, patron of the Autism Society of Newfoundland and Labrador, was forwarded to me by Tom Jackman , a society board member and volunteer worker during Targa Newfoundland. That letter is included below:
“Last year the Autism Society of Newfoundland and Labrador partnered with Targa Newfoundland to raise funds and awareness for Autism. It was such a successful event that we have continued our relationship for Targa’s 10th anniversary, and hopefully for many years to come. I’m sure you are aware of the popularity of this race as racers come from all over Canada, as well from around the world. If not, please visit Targa’s website at www.targanewfoundland.com. Targa Newfoundland is the first and only event of its kind to be held in North America. At ten years young, every aspect of our high end automotive adventure just keeps getting better. As motor sport enthusiasts, we know that limits were made to be pushed and cars were designed to be driven.
The Autism Society of Newfoundland and Labrador is dedicated to improving the lives of those affected by Autism Disorder (ASD). The society owns and operates the Elaine Dobbin Centre for Autism in St. John’s and has branches in Clarenville, Grand Falls-Windsor and Corner Brook. Our website is www.autism.nf.net.
As a member of the Business community in the racing world, we hope you will support our joint annual event.
The Targa Newfoundland Gala Awards Ceremony is the exclamation point on an exciting week of racing all across Newfoundland. As the official charity of Targa Newfoundland, all of the proceeds from the silent auction will go towards helping to fund programs and services offered by the Autism Society of Newfoundland and Labrador all across this province.
We are hoping you will support our annual fund raising event by a donation of a racing related item to the silent auction. We thank you for considering our request to donate to our Silent Auction and if you have any questions, please feel free to call me at 709-895-3660.
“ELAINE DOBBIN” <email@example.com>,
Autism Society of Newfoundland and Labrador”
If you are going to take part in this year’s Targa Newfoundland, please bring along some items that could be part of the silent auction. Race and rally related items would be appreciated. If you are frustrated with your car’s performance and don’t want to tow it back home, then donate the car to the auction. How about that odometer that your navigator can never figure out how to use? It will all be appreciated and it is for a good cause.
